May 28 · 17:00–22:00 · Kunstforeningen GL STRAND, Copenhagen · Come as you are · Free entry
This May, we're celebrating the annual P:I:G Award, a prize of 25.000 DKK given to an outstanding emerging creative recognised as a Practical, Intelligent Genius.
The evening begins with an award ceremony, where this year's recipient will present their work in conversation with Gammel Strand's curator, Mai Dengsøe.
After the ceremony, two bands take the stage in Gammel Strand's courtyard:
Gothenburg dreampop band BOY WITH APPLE opens the night with floaty soundscapes and heavy electronic beats, where reverb-drenched guitars and synths create a wall of sound around the vocals of front singers Zara Henriksson and Saga Fransson. Ethereal, gritty, and loud, their live shows linger long after the final note.
Then, Chinese-Danish dance punk duo GREEN TEA BITCHES takes over. For them, "bad taste" means freedom, a celebration of everything colorful, glittery, and awkward. Think Talking Heads, Charli XCX, and Wet Leg starting a circus together. CLASH described their live set as "endless energy," leaving the hot, jumping room somewhat stunned.
