Knitwear freak, Julie, didn’t take a long way to our Copenhagen studio. Originated in Denmark yet experienced abroad, Julie is another indispensable member of our #teamVIBS studio force. Read more about her and find out where she hangs out in Copenhagen as well as what she recommends for Christmas.

Hey Julie! Tell us something more about you?
I am Danish, grew up in the western part of Denmark. I studied at Design School Kolding here in Denmark for three years, then I took one year off, worked in London, did exhibitions and also teaching. Now I am in my first semester of the Master program at Design School Kolding studying fashion design.

Why Fashion Design?
I think fashion design is interesting because garments are what we all wear and how we express ourselves, how we communicate our personality to others. It sounds a bit cliché but actually I always wanted to study fashion design. I love the way of working, the handcraft, the techniques, and materials.

What brought you to Henrik Vibskov?
I was always super interested in the way Henrik works with fashion design, installations and how these two are combined. I wanted to learn more about his way of telling a story and how everything starts as small ideas and how they end are realized in the end. It is a really interesting place to be as you both get to work with fashion design, installations and art pieces.

We wonder why no one wants to tell us a secret from the studio. What happens in the studio stays in the studio. A secret here will forever be a secret!

How do you like Copenhagen so far? Any favorite spots to recommend?
I love Copenhagen, it is the perfect size and so many things are happening here.
For pizzas I will recommend ‘Behov’ in the north of Copenhagen. Here you can customize your own pizza and it is super good (if you are good in customization)
The best place to go in the morning for coffee and a croissant is Atelier September at Gothersgade. Their croissants are the best!
For brunch I will recommend ’Sidecar’, it is SO good!!
I also really like ’Galathea Kroen’ where you get the best rijstaffel. The place is decorated with all kind of weird stuff from all over the world. It is a cozy place to eat dinner.

This time we are meeting Elvira, born in Denmark but based in the Netherlands, experienced #Vibsvan driver and indefatigable source of diverse ideas. Read more about her in the next part of our interview series and check out her tips for Christmas.

Hey Elvira! Tell us something more about you and your background?
My name is Elvira von Wieding and I am a 4th year bachelor student at Design Academy Eindhoven in the Netherlands where I study at the department Man & Leisure

Why Fashion Design?
Not fashion. Or not really. In my department and at my school in general I have been educated to be a multi-diciplinary designer who knows a little about a lot. I am very fascinated about the fashion industry but the reason I applied for an internship with Henrik Vibskov was because of the way he creates universes by combining fashion with art, installation and performance. For me it is super interesting what lies in between those fields and to work in between being able to cross over and combine and melt together.

How can you describe your works?
My projects are split between being very conceptual and story based and then on the other hand very image based. I like to create images with color and shape and materials but I what I really like is to build the concept and the backstory, which mean that, to me, the value in my work is the idea behind it.

Tell us a secret from the studio? We won’t tell Henrik.
What happens in the studio stays in the studio.

How do you like Copenhagen so far? Any favorite spots to recommend?
I am from outside Copenhagen originally, so to me being in Copenhagen now is like coming home. The cafee Sidecar in Nørrebro is one of my favorite places to hang out – worldclass brunch in the weekends and drinks in the evening. Next to that a must-have every week is a durum falafel from Durum Symfoni on Nørrebrogade (close to Nørrebro’s Runddel) seriously the best durum in town. Next to 5-star. Whcih is right next door and an indian kebab place.

Fresh wind from western Europe brimming over with the typical spanish temperament - that’s our next studio intern and drawing guru, Tiscar. Read more about her in the second part of our interview series and find out what she recommends for Christmas.

Hey Tiscar! Tell us something more about you and your background?
I come from the south of Spain. I was lucky to be born in a creative family which helped me find and experiment with my inner creativity. So, I decided to study Fashion Design in Madrid a few years ago. Before I came here, I was working in different Spanish brands and tailors.

So how did you end up in fashion?
I have a great interest in the different forms of expression that human beings have in all the creative languages. I found in fashion design an amazing way to experiment and play with the creation of forms, volumes... I believe that the most interesting part of fashion is the creative act: the work of dressing the human body but with an idea or a concept that justifies or makes sense to the form that we generate.
I like this search from which forms and creations emerge sometimes provoked, sometimes

What brought you to Henrik Vibskov? Is there any particular reason why did you decide to apply?
I decided to apply for HV because I was always interested in the work or the brand. I like
how they look for new garments forms and its esthetic sense in the designs and
constructions. I also admire how they understand fashion more than an industry; its more
related to the culture and the art world. Now, that im here learning everyday, I understand that is the best choice that i could take!

Tell us a secret from the studio? We won’t tell Henrik. Misong has the answer (scroll down to find out)

How do you like Copenhagen so far? Any favorite spots to recommend?
I enjoy this city a lot. Copenhagen has something that you can’t explain with words. I can feel inspired everywhere. It has all different kind of art, music, design, culture, people... I just enjoy only walking around its charming streets.

#TeamVIBS: Say Hi to Misong!

Holidays are just around the corner and to spice them up a little bit, we prepared some interviews with the current Interns at the Henrik Vibskov Studio.
In the very first interview we are going to talk with Misong, coming from vibrant London, where she studies at Central Saint Martins. So keep on reading and if you are still desperate about Christmas gift ideas, Misong has some tips for you!

Hey Misong! Tell us something more about you and your background?

I am a little volcano, made in South Korea. I love discovering different values in space and time, that tells the
stories of (extra)ordinary people and their passion.

So how did you end up in fashion?
To be honest, I am still not familiar with the word fashion. I don’t want to sound serious though, to me,
fashion is kind of junction where all different types of art, design and culture meet. I have found it very
exciting when they intertwingle and generate a new creative social venue. And fashion which is full of ironic
sense has strength in swelling up such a phenomenon. Okay sounds boring enough.

What brought you to Henrik Vibskov? Is there any particular reason why did you decide to apply?

I went to Henrik’s exhibition in Seoul last summer, which was full of colours, patterns and weird stuff, but wonderful.
Yes,I got a crush on it and decided to fly to Copenhagen to tell him about that.

Tell us a secret from the studio? We won’t tell Henrik.

One thing about Henrik, no one has seen Henrik without his hat. There are two suppositions among interns –
1. {O} 2. O + {^}

How do you enjoy Copenhagen so far? Any favorite spots to recommend?

Copenhagen is special. I had been based in London – such a big and busy city. I still love the intensity but
sometimes, I need a break from it. And Copenhagen is exactly on the contrary - I myself, can slow down a bit
and enjoy a piece of rye bread with calmness.

Favorite spots: Frama / Beau Marché; where you can find fine furniture, art work and wine at once!
