#TEAMVIBS: SAY HI TO ANDREA!TEAMVIBS: SAY HI TO SUNNA!

Say hi to Sunna, the versatile source of creativity, helping grow the icelandic population of #teamVIBS. Graduated from biology and having a diploma from contemporary dance, recently she ended up studying fashion design to follow her lifetime passion. Read more about Sunna in the last part of our interview series and find out what she recommends from Henrik Visbkov Boutique.

Hey Sunna! Tell us something more about you and your background?
I’m from Iceland and moved to Copenhagen a year ago to study Sustainable Fashion at KEA. Before I graduated with a B.S. degree in biology and a diploma in contemporary dance at the same time. I felt like I needed to have my life figured out and sorted what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. So I took kind of a break from life responsibilities, focusing on my hobby which was sewing and decided to study clothing technology, a preperation study for tailoring. It was there, everything made sense and I figured my life out, or at least my next step in life.

Why design?
Design has always been a big part of my life. Whether it was designing something for myself at home or going to an art museum, I’ve always found art and design so fascinating. Design is a way to express everyday feelings, thoughts and emotions. It is something put in shape or words that people can often relate to and it awakens amounts of questions. That is why the world of art and design is so important to us. When I realized that you can actually work with your hobby, that is also your biggest passion in life, I felt kind of relieved.

What brought you to Henrik Vibskov? Is there any particular reason why did you decide to apply?
Actually I got to know Henrik Vibskov brand through my cousin Klara who did an internship at Vibskov and now she is working there. She told me how amazing place it was - and still is, and what kind of different stuff they do. That made me really interested, knowing that I would learn a lot and especially I’d be surrounded by talented people and having lots of fun there.

Tell us a secret from the studio? We won’t tell Henrik. What happens in the studio, stays in the studio.

How do you like Copenhagen so far? Any favorite spots to recommend?
I love Copenhagen. It’s so full of life and you can discover something new every single day. I love biking around the city, even when it’s raining (and I’m such a cat when it comes to rain, hate it). My favorite cafés are Kompa 9 close to Strøget and Café Plenum in Nørrebro. Their warmed cranberry drink is what to die for and the homemade lemon-ginger tea is one of my favorites. Café Plenum is located next to Elmegade which is one of my favorite spots in Nørrebro, full of cafés and small stores. Not least, Nicecream is a ‘must visit’ in the summertime in Elmegade, best vegan icecream that can be found on earth.

Say Hi to Andrea

#TEAMVIBS: SAY HI TO ANDREA!

Say hi to Andrea, our restless dutch force who knows where the volume limit of our studio speakers lies. Studying product design in the Netherlands, she is another indispensable #teamvibs member, so keep on reading to discover more about her and find out what her ‘new years’ picks from www.henrikvibskovboutique.com are.

Hey Andrea! Tell us something more about you and your background?
I'm originally from the Netherlands. Growing up in Rotterdam and started to live in Arnhem for my study, Product Design at Artez academy. I'm in my final year now, after this internship I will work on my graduation project to finish my study in june!

Why this type of design?
When I was younger I was a restless child, always busy with plans, projects and ideas. I started to realise stuff by sewing, when studying I also discovering the wider field of design. Making stuff myself helps me to organise all the things going on in my brain. It gives pleasure to see the ideas in from my head to the realality.

What brought you to Henrik Vibskov? Is there any particular reason why did you decide to apply?
Internship felt for me as an opportunity to step into a world that you yourself haven't had the chance to discover yet. Vibskov felt as an interesting world i wanted to get involved with and see what kind of input i could bring into. Working in this team gives me the opportunity to create more than I can on my own.

Tell us a secret from the studio? We won’t tell Henrik.
The studio speaker gives us unlimited party opportunities. I'm not saying more, you have to experience.

How do you like Copenhagen so far? Any favorite spots to recommend?
Copenhagen has surprised already in so many ways, how fast it felt at home, the chill ambiance and the nice vibs family I could become part of. My weekends still exsist of discovering and wandering around in the different areas. Since I have a weakness for good food, always trying new cafes and bars.

#TEAMVIBS: SAY HI TO JESSICA!

After a short holiday break, we are back with another part of our #teamvibs interview series. This time we are meeting and what’s more - wishing a happy birthday to our Jessica, who recently turned 26! Read more about her and find out what stood behind her decision to study interior design as well as what is her must have from henrikvibskovboutique.com!

Hey Jessica! Tell us something more about you and your background?
I come from Geneva, Switzlerand. I studied interior architecture at Geneva University of Art and Design. Since my graduation, I’ve been working in an architecture studio and an art gallery. I also founded with some friends a collective named Collectif Galta, in which we develop transdisciplinary projects and spatial experiments.

Why interior architecture?
I always liked to do many different things so it was difficult for me to decide which “way” I wanted to follow in my studies. But when I had to choose, I thought that interior architecture would be a good compromise allowing me to experiment different scales, and mostly gain knowledge and skills. So I don’t consider my practice as going into only one direction. I try to explore new horizons and it’s very exciting for me to learn from it.

What brought you to Henrik Vibskov? Is there any particular reason why did you decide to apply?
I discovered Henrik Vibskov Studio during my studies. I was truly fascinated by this singular approach of design, which is not limited to fashion but embraces many disciplines to create a complete universe. It’s very inspiring to see how a strong and unique aesthetic can create unexpected links between art and design. It also made me realize that you don’t necessarily need to fit in a case and if you follow your instinct and your interests it can all make sense. So I applied to the studio to have a look in the inside and discover the work process.

Tell us a secret from the studio? We won’t tell Henrik. What happens in the studio stays in the studio...

How do you like Copenhagen so far? Any favorite spots to recommend?
I enjoy it so much! There’s a special quality of life and everything is so accessible just by biking. I would recommend The Log Lady for a nice drink and Paludan Café for a cozy place to work and good food.

Jessica Picks:

Henrik Vibskov Wild Wild Vest

#TEAMVIBS: SAY HI TO JULIE!

Knitwear freak, Julie, didn’t take a long way to our Copenhagen studio. Originated in Denmark yet experienced abroad, Julie is another indispensable member of our #teamVIBS studio force. Read more about her and find out where she hangs out in Copenhagen as well as what she recommends for Christmas.

Hey Julie! Tell us something more about you?
I am Danish, grew up in the western part of Denmark. I studied at Design School Kolding here in Denmark for three years, then I took one year off, worked in London, did exhibitions and also teaching. Now I am in my first semester of the Master program at Design School Kolding studying fashion design.

Why Fashion Design?
I think fashion design is interesting because garments are what we all wear and how we express ourselves, how we communicate our personality to others. It sounds a bit cliché but actually I always wanted to study fashion design. I love the way of working, the handcraft, the techniques, and materials.

What brought you to Henrik Vibskov?
I was always super interested in the way Henrik works with fashion design, installations and how these two are combined. I wanted to learn more about his way of telling a story and how everything starts as small ideas and how they end are realized in the end. It is a really interesting place to be as you both get to work with fashion design, installations and art pieces.

We wonder why no one wants to tell us a secret from the studio. What happens in the studio stays in the studio. A secret here will forever be a secret!

How do you like Copenhagen so far? Any favorite spots to recommend?
I love Copenhagen, it is the perfect size and so many things are happening here.
For pizzas I will recommend ‘Behov’ in the north of Copenhagen. Here you can customize your own pizza and it is super good (if you are good in customization)
The best place to go in the morning for coffee and a croissant is Atelier September at Gothersgade. Their croissants are the best!
For brunch I will recommend ’Sidecar’, it is SO good!!
I also really like ’Galathea Kroen’ where you get the best rijstaffel. The place is decorated with all kind of weird stuff from all over the world. It is a cozy place to eat dinner.
