Copenhagen Fashion Week met up with our Buyer Rune Park to talk about his favorite things in Copenhagen:
"Buyer at Henrik Vibskov Rune Park loves to drink coffee at Henrik Vibskovs' own café Den plettede Gris, eat at La Banchina or take a weekend trip to Finn Juhl’s House at Ordrupgaard enjoying Danish architecture and interior design. Read more about his favorite things and secrets about Copenhagen
How do you feel Copenhagen influences you when buying for Henrik Vibskov?
The city is ever-changing, as is it's weather. We live and breathe the city so closely that buying is not only influenced by a multitude of twisted universes, but as well by functionality to be ready for all kinds of weather and occasions.
What’s your favorite thing about Copenhagen?
Springtime has its very own charm in Copenhagen when people gather outside in cafés trying to get the first sun and simply enjoy city life along the canals. No matter the season, being able to get around the entire city with a short bike ride is one of my favorite things about Copenhagen.
Top 3 things to do or see in Copenhagen?
1. For contemporary art, I recommend the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art. The space itself is situated beautifully a little outside the city by the water, so remember to take a walk in the park after seeing the exhibition.
2. Finn Juhl’s House at Ordrupgaard is a great spot to get inspired by Danish architecture and interior design. Juhl designed the house from the inside out as a lab for his organic approach to interior design.
3. On a sunny day, take a stroll on Amager beach and visit Kastrup Søbad. The bathhouse with its crescent-shaped wall of wooden slates on the water is an interesting sculptural piece of architecture and offers a really nice view over Saltholm Island and Sweden.
Another, more urban art space is Copenhagen Contemporary located in an old warehouse on Paper Island right next to the Henrik Vibskov studio.
Helgoland bathhouse at Amager beach is great spot to enjoy the Danish summer by the Baltic sea with a good view to over the Øresund.
Where do you go for coffee?
When in the city and craving for a good coffee definitely stop by “Den Plettede Gris” the café of Henrik Vibskov next to his studio at the Paper Island. If you are visiting our shop at Krystalgade 6 treat yourself with my favorite croissants in Copenhagen at Democratic Coffee.
Do you have a secret tip for Copenhagen?
On a sunny afternoon have dinner at “La Banchina” on Refshaleøen. The small restaurant serves wine and modern Nordic cuisine in a scenic location right by the water. In winter, the wood-heated sauna is definitely worth a visit as well. Remember to reserve a table in advance because seats are very limited.
For Sundays, I recommend a long walk through Frederiksberg Have. Stop by ”The Cisterns”, a long forgotten subterranean reservoir that once contained the supply of drinking water for the Danish capital. The dark and moist underground space has since been converted into a unique venue for changing art exhibitions."
